BIG numbers turn into Clocks!

We have been playing with our BIG numbers this week...so cold that many days have been playing in our PJ's till well into the morning.
Lots of counting going on with our reward system for baths in full swing...so we can count upto 25 but how about number recognition.
Decided to go into my bag of tricks and pull out the big numbers. I was acctually surprised that N was able to recogise almost all 1-10. A little mix up with 6 and 9 but wwho wouldn't.
"Like on the clock mum"
So we pulled out a clock and tried to orgainise the numbers like a clock.

This has opened up such a topic of conversation for us. Asking everyone what thier favourite numbers are, reading house numbers when we go visiting even the speed limits "mum that is a 4 and a 0 on that sign".

Clever munchkin....what does 3 have in store!

This is smart! Have to tell my husband, who is 1st grade teacher about this idea! He can use it in his class! :)

It's great to see kids loving numbers!! What a great clock!
My son also used to read EVERY speed limit sign on EVERY car trip when he was about Mr N's age, saying six-oh, or four-oh etc. Now he reads car number plates, looking for the highest or lowest number on each car trip! Calculators are fun number toys too!

I love your responsiveness with the clock. This hands on learning makes for great numbers fun and makes the learning so memorable.

Thanks for linking up to We Play :)
